‘Tie53’ Battles to Win the €1 Million GTD on the IPN

With an overlay of €285,000 there was amazing value to be had for the 715 entrants in the €1 Million GTD on Sunday, 10th May. Lasting nearly 12 hours, the €200,000 First Prize was fiercely contested before Tie53 emerged victorious.
 
  The chip counts at the start of the final table were as follows:
  • eom2k             - 944,133
  • zorropot          - 422,123
  • ohhedoes..      - 400,236
  • pommik           - 380,884
  • Tie53               - 375,819
  • ilikepie71         - 370,631

  • Operga119      - 284,486

With blinds at 4,000/8,000 and an 800 ante, it was no surprise to see Jeff710 defend his BB with Ah 3h after being raised by Tie53 from mid position.  Tie53 showed Ac Jd, the flop came Ad 2h 8h giving Jeff710 a flush draw and back door straight draw.  Turn was the 5h which completed the flush and doubled Jeff710 up to 71,588.

It was 30 minutes into the final table before the first player was eliminated.  With blinds at 5,000/10,000/1,000, zorropot moved all-in in late position for 111,439, and was called by Tie53 in the BB.  zorropot showed Kh 5d which was behind the Ac 2h held by Tie53.  With a board of 2c Jd Jc 8s 3s; zorropot missed improving and finished in tenth place earning €11,000.

Still with the same level of 5,000/10,000/1,000 Octavian3 moved all-in for 67,304 under the gun holding 6s 6h.  This was folded around to Operga119 who called in the SB with Jh Js.  All blanks on the board finished off Octavian3; who walked away with €13,000 for his ninth place finish.

With a new level of 7,500/15,000/1,500 ilikepie71 raised under the gun to 37,650, and Jeff710; who had already posted 15,000 in the BB, moved all-in for 12,274 which was called by ilikepie71.  Jeff710 held Qs Jh which was behind the Ac Jc of ilikepie71.  With a board of 4h 10h 9s 5d Ad Jeff710 exited the tournament in eighth place with €16,000.

A few hands later saw the biggest hand of the night so far when pommik raised to 45,000 under the gun, whilst ilikepie71 flat called from the hijack and it was then folded to Operga119 in the BB who moved all-in for 421,626.  pommik dropped out and  ilikepie71 called all-in for 358,303 with Qd Qh,  Operga119 showed Ad Ah.  The board came 8s 8h 8d 2d 2s to give both players a full house, Operga119 however taking the 859,106 pot with eights full of Aces.  ilikepie71 hit the rail in seventh place taking home €20,000.

Several hands later and unreality. was the next to go.  It was folded all the way around to Tie53 in the SB who raised to 40,000, and unreality. moved all-in for another 149,680 which was called by Tie53, who started the hand with 1,073,156.  unreality. showed Ac Jd and was in the lead against the 6c 10c of Tie53.  The flop came 6d Qs 2d giving Tie53 the lead, the turn was 5s and the river the 2c which were no help to unreality. who was knocked out in sixth place with €25,000.

On the very next hand ohhedoes.. found Kh Kc in the cut off and raised to 30,000, Operga119 moved all-in from the BB for 1,066,429 and ohhedoes.. quickly called with his remaining 169,150 only to be shown As Ad by Operga119.  No King on the board and ohhedoes.. was out in fifth place for €35,000.

After 2 eliminations in 2 hands it would be another 40 minutes before eom2k would be out in 4th.  The blinds were 10,000/20,000/2,000 when eom2k raised to 49,876 on the button, in the SB Tie53 reraised to 119,752.  It was folded back around to eom2k who moved all-in for 538,986 with As 8h, Tie53 called with Ks Kd which held up on a board of Qh Js 7c 4d 9h.  eom2k received €47,500 for his fourth place finish.

After 10 minutes of three handed play the chip stacks looked like this when the following hand came up:

  • Tie 53              - 1,821,070
  • pommik           - 1,606,962
  • Operga119      -    146,968

With blinds of 30,000/15,000/3,000 Tie53 folded on the button to Operga119 in the SB who moved all-in.  pommik called the extra 113,968 with 10s 9s, Operga119 had Qc 4h.  The flop came 2c 5d 3c for no improvement for pommik whilst Operga119 picked up a straight draw.  The turn was a 10d to give pommik the lead and with a Jd on the river it was all over for Operga119 who finished in third place and collected €64,500.

Heads up, the chip stacks were evenly matched with Tie 53 having 1,818,070 and pommik 1,756,930 but after 35 minutes of Heads Up play Tie53 had managed to slowly build up a chip lead of 10 to 1 when the final hand came.  The blinds were 20,000/40,000/4,000 when pommik went all-in from the SB for 270,720 with Ah 3h, Tie53 called with Ks 6d.  The flop came Js 7s 5c keeping pommik in the lead until the  turn brought the 6c making a pair for Tie53 and leaving pommik with 7 outs an the river (any Ace or a 4 for a straight).  The river was 5d and pommik was the second place finisher receiving €111,000.  The winner of the €1 Million GTD was Tie53 who won €200,000.
